Trump’s Social Media Manager Tweeted a Video of Mexico City Flooding Thinking It’s Miami

As Hurricane Irma pounded Florida on Sunday, President Trump’s social media manager, Dan Scavino Jr., showed the administration is on the ball by tweeting out a video of flooding at Miami’s international airport. Except it wasn’t Miami’s airport, and the news was nearly two weeks old.

“Sharing #HurricaneIrma on social media with President @realDonaldTrump & @VP Pence hourly. Here is Miami International Airport. STAY SAFE!!” Scavino tweeted in the early afternoon.

That bit of fake news about one of the biggest storms to hit the United States in recent memory didn’t go unnoticed. In fact, one of the first Twitter users to call Scavino out on the error was the Miami International Airport, which succinctly stated, “This video is not from Miami International Airport.”

Others pointed out that the video actually showed flooding at Mexico City’s airport.

Meanwhile, Scavino appears to have quietly deleted the tweet, perhaps alerted to the mistake by a roomful of top officials whose primary responsibility right now is to monitor the fucking hurricane.
