Trump's Top Nazi-Linked Aide Wants You to Know That White Supremacy Is Not a Problem

I’ll be totally honest with you: I like the sound of White House adviser and Nazi-adjacent man Sebastian Gorka’s voice. It’s the sort of lightly accented baritone that would be perfectly at home in a luxury car commercial voiceover, or reading a book on tape about the Victorian-era British navy. But, much as I enjoy listening to Gorka speak, I’m really gonna need him to shut the fuck up already. Because, every time he opens his mouth, something astronomically, indefensibly bad comes out of it.

On Wednesday, Gorka returned to his roots at Breitbart News—where he once served as National Security Editor—for an interview on the outlet’s daily radio program. There, as ThinkProgress first reported, he discussed why the world is so unfair to white supremacists.

“It’s this constant, ‘Oh, it’s the white man. It’s the white supremacists. That’s the problem,’” Gorka opined. “No, it isn’t…Go to Sinjar. Go to the Middle East, and tell me what the real problem is today. Go to Manchester.”

Gorka was responding to to criticism stemming from an earlier interview this week with MSNBC, where he insisted that not only were “lone wolf” terrorist attacks a rhetorical ploy concocted by the Obama administration, but—either through willful, or genuine ignorance—that “there has never been a serious attack or a serious plot that was unconnected from ISIS or al Qaeda.”

In fact, according to an April report from the Government Accountability Office:

Since September 12, 2001, the number of fatalities caused by domestic violent extremists has ranged from 1 to 49 in a given year. […] Fatalities resulting from attacks by far-right wing violent extremists have exceeded those caused by radical Islamist violent extremists in 10 of the 15 years, and were the same in 3 of the years since September 12, 2001.

And later, from the same report:

Of the 85 violent extremist incidents that resulted in death since September 12, 2001, far-right wing violent extremist groups were responsible for 62 (73 percent) while radical Islamist violent extremists were responsible for 23 (27 percent).

What’s that? You mean… Domestic terrorism is just as dangerous a threat as its international counterpart, if not more so?? Why I never!

Gorka has re-emerged in recent days as one of President Trump’s most forceful surrogates, making multiple media appearances following the White House’s hyperbolic statements about North Korea’s nuclear program. He had previously been seen as one of the administration figures most likely to be booted from the president’s circle of advisers after he was exposed as having been a member of a Nazi-associated Hungarian militia.

However, Gorka has somehow maintained his current position—despite no one knowing quite what that position actually entails. According to a source who spoke with Rolling Stone for a profile on Gorka, the White House tried to move him elsewhere in government, but “nobody wanted him.”
