(W)Rap Up: 2013 Politics Set to a Hip-Hop Beat

If you pay attention to the news at all, then you know that 2013 was one hell of a year for your viewing pleasure. At every turn, cable news pundits found reason to offend, and to be offended.

In an effort to make sense of the year, and to narrow it down to a little nugget that you can easily remember, I made made a song for you.

There’s just one lyric that I couldn’t quite fit in, but one that I think makes this the most complete retrospective around: “The Heat won it again, and they did it in style/ Only thing that made more haters was the Zimmerman Trial.”

That’s right. I’m from Miami, b!@$#.

Now check out the rest of the lyrics below, and click through the links to relive the craziness.

Like Mandela said—“Peace.”

2013 lets start it with inauguration

Obama’s got a real nice, solid occupation

But he got rehired, as the pope resigned

We saw the white smoke, and found an Argentine

Hugo Chavez died, and there’s a coup in Egypt

You can check the Twitter feed if you don’t believe it

And Edward Snowden—I mean holy moly

Merkel’s mad, like “damn, I thought we were homies”

Turkey’s poppin’ off, Brazil is crazy man

All that money and they just collapsed a stadium

Who deals with Iran? We deal with Iran

Not George W. W. just ran

Ted Cruz, must have had the best booze

Talking green eggs and ham till he heard F-U’s

Forget you if you didn’t hear the news

But they shutdown the government and DOMA too

Obama cocky, like Republicans inferior

The he goes and messes up the crisis in Syria

About time for them to hit the libraries

And start fundraising for the next primary

People get deported as mayors Rob Ford it

Leave it up to us at Fusion to report it

From Miley to molly and all in between

Fusion’s here to stay, see you 2014
