Watch Alicia Machado denounce Donald Trump and fire up Latinx voters in this passionate speech
Machado told the Dade City crowd that when she went to the Miss Universe to represent her native Venezuela, she was just 18 years old, saying “there was still so much I didn’t know.”
“Trump was overwhelming, I was scared of him. He made fun of me and I didn’t know how to respond,” she said. When Machado said the GOP nominee called her “Miss Piggy,” “Miss Housekeeping,” and “Miss Eating Machine,” the crowd loudly booed in response.
It’s up to Latinx voters to show Trump that he can’t get away with the way he treats women, Machado said, speaking in English and Spanish throughout her introduction of Clinton.
“To all my fellow Floridians who have the right to vote: vote early, vote today,” she said. “And to all the Latinos: This is our election. This is our election, Latinos!”
After earning Trump’s wrath for supporting Clinton, Machado refused to back down, repeatedly clapping back at the billionaire’s sexist, racist attacks.
