Watch the moment Bernie Sanders declares Hillary Clinton is the Democratic presidential nominee
Bernie Sanders, to a crowd of supporters chanting his name, announced the official end of his campaign during the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.
“I move that Hillary Clinton be selected as the nominee of the Democratic Party for President of the United States,” he said, suspending the formal proceedings of the evening’s roll call vote.
With that, the Philadelphia crowd erupted in cheers.
Sanders’ campaign went much further than anyone originally predicted, and has launched what many consider to be the start of a national progressive movement. Time will tell how profound an impact on the United States his “political revolution” will ultimately make.Michael Rosen is a reporter for Fusion based out of Oakland.
