Watching Major Lazer's new FXX cartoon is 'like being high'
Dope news for music fans and cartoon fans alike: Major Lazer, an appropriately named cartoon heavily featuring the musical talents of Diplo, Jillionaire, Walshy Fire, Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), Andy Samberg, and many more — is coming to FXX this month as the latest addition to the “Animation Domination” block on the network.
The show will take us to a shell-shocked dystopian future in Jamaica, where the eponymous superhero simultaneously fights crime and performs DJ sets. About watching the late-night cartoon, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s (the voice of Major Lazer) in the clip below claims, “It’s like being high.”
Sounds like just the right amount of bizarre to us. The show, which Diplo told Billboard is “more than five years in the making,” already has stars Aziz Ansari, Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons, and Charli XCX on-board.
Check out the sneak peek below in which Diplo explains how his South Florida upbringing fostered his love of Jamaican music and culture, and a few words from the show’s art director, Ferry Gouw:
