What Was Going On With John McCain?

John McCain was one of the senators questioning former FBI Director James Comey during today’s open hearing.

It didn’t escape the notice of any viewer with a pulse that the self-styled maverick, uh, didn’t make a lot of sense. Nobody knew what he was talking about—not even Comey, who appeared repeatedly confused by his questions.

Even his fellow committee members looked visibly fed up with McCain’s meandering line of questioning:

I’m no medical professional, but I’m just going to go ahead and suggest that McCain skip the call to his office and just drive himself right to the doctor, sooner rather than later.

UPDATE, 2:46 PM: McCain explained in a statement after the hearing that he wasn’t having a major medical crisis, he just stayed up late watching the ball game! The senator also clarified he was trying to ask Comey if he thinks Trump’s actions amounted to obstruction of justice:
